More purses for you to gawk at… One has an adjustable strap, the other has the swivel clip so you can hook and unhook at will…if you’re into that sort of thing. Both have an outside pocket for stashing lottery tickets, secret notes, shopping lists and business cards. They are smooth, sleek and rubbery. And [...]
Purse with Metal Swivel Clip and D-Ring
Finally I get the photos up! Here's the new purse. I thought it looked quite comfortable out in the snow...although I wasn't! [caption id="attachment_942" align="aligncenter" width="553" caption="Inner tube purse in snowy environment!"][/caption] It's 8.5 inches tall by 7 inches wide. The strap is 55 inches long. The strap can be unclipped from the D-ring so you can put your keys on there or thread it through your epaulet....if you have one. [caption id="attachment_946" align="aligncenter" width="583" caption="Purse zipper pull and hardware"][/caption] The strap is longer than I usually make , which is too long for me, (I'm 5 foot 2.5 inches) but just right for a taller ...
This Bag Wins the Coin Toss
Re-Velo Coin Purse This is now my favorite inner tube bag. I use it to carry cash, biz cards, coins, and swim fins. My cell phone fits in it too! [caption id="attachment_339" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Small Coin Purse with zipper and chain link pull."][/caption] OK, swim fins won't fit. But I love this little bag. This one measures approximately 5 inches wide by 3 3/4 tall. It's from a wider mountain bike tube. Most are not this tall. Here's the back. Not as much going on on this side. But every tube is like a snowflake, unique and beautiful. Only tubes aren't so melty. This ...
Spring Time Is New Purse Time!
I just created this fringed inner tube purse last Sunday. I love how it turned out! I call it the Fringe Benefits Purse. [caption id="attachment_1043" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Fringe Purse lounging on the deck."][/caption] (The purse is not this blue. I didn't white balance.) I love the fringe. I'd been wanting to play around with it for some time and it works great for this bag. Made of recycled tubes, this purse is super comfortable and made to be worn across your body, leaving you hands free to do whatever it is you do when you need to have all your stuff on you. [caption id="attachment_1045" ...
Sewing Rubber is Fun!
Yes, hard to believe but it's true. Thankfully I have access to an industrial machine. The mighty Rex. It's tough to sew - OK, impossible - on my home sewing machine. Here's a beauty shot. [caption id="attachment_333" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Mmmm. Rubber!"][/caption] The tubes are cut to the correct size and ready to be made into lovely and useful Re-Velo bags.
New Tote Bag
I made a tote bag on Saturday! I had been wanting to make some larger items for a long time but it seemed kind of daunting...so, I kept it simple. (Click the pics to enlarge them. The flash made the bag look shinier than it is in "real life".) [caption id="attachment_699" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Musette Tote"][/caption] I used 5 tubes (I think). I sliced the tubes lengthwise once, then again so the pieces would stay flat. Then I measured a musette bag and cut the pieces 3 or so inches longer than that. Then I sewed all the pieces together till the piece was the ...

OK, so it’s not new, I think I got it in 2007. Mark is overhauling my beautiful Bam-Bam so until it’s finished, I’m riding this Cannondale F7 mountian bike. It’s fun.

OK, so I love my Shimano mountain bike shoes. BUT, they are a bit too tight and hot in the summer time. What’s a girl to do then? Why, cut out their tongues (ack!) remove the laces (OK, confession, I took the laces out a long time ago) and there you have it! A refreshing [...]

I made a new purse this week. I’ll be honest….it was a mistake. I was sewing along just swimmingly and had it almost done then I realized…uh oh, no strap. What to do?
